Nordic strengthens its US management team

October 2, 2020

Nordic Aquafarms has maintained a strong focus on fish welfare and quality in our operations and development work. Now we are strengthening our US team in this area with the hire of Nick King as VP of Operational Quality Control.

Nick has in recent years headed up the US operations of Fishvet Group from Portland, Maine – a part of Benchmark Animal Health. Before this he had a 10-year international management career with feed producer Skretting. He also has 10 years under his belt in hatchery operations.

The hire of Nick further strengthens Nordic Aquafarm´s commitment to high animal health standards, biosecurity, and quality throughout our activities in the US.

Nordic moves from majority owner to 100% owner of Danish Kingfish operation

September 16, 2020

Sashimi Royal and the Maximus hatchery is the only operation producing Kingfish in Scandinavia. Kingfish can only be produced in RAS in colder climates.

The Danish operation covers the entire production from broodstock to market size product out the door.

With full ownership control Nordic has greater flexibility in developing and expanding its Kingfish operations.

Nordic has brought the product several times to the US with wonderful feedback.

Nordic Aquafarms story on Yellowtail Kingfish

September 1, 2020

The fish also known as Hiramasa is loved by sushi lovers, but can be prepared in many different ways. Instead of importing from across the globe, Nordic Aquafarms established a fresh supply for Europeans right in Demark with a land-based farm.

Today, it is sold to restaurants across Europe.

A good addition to wild catch seafood

August 28, 2020

Sustainably caught wild catch seafood is a great choice for consumers. That is why conservation efforts and support for the fishing industry are so important. We need this industry to thrive also in the future as a part of our working waterfront in the face of climate change and human impacts.

But consumption has long since outgrown wild catch supply in the US and the world. Nordic Aquafarms will provide a land-based supply alternative for salmon locally produced in the US. We offer an alternative that also protects wild fish populations.

We at Nordic Aquafarms grow two species indoors – Atlantic Salmon and Yellowtail Kingfish.

The products we produce in Europe are loved by seafood lovers. Our seafood is grown indoors in seawater to achieve the best possible product. They are produced without antibiotics, GMOs, and with natural ingredients. Chef´s have rated them as high quality with great taste. If you like sushi or sashimi, the lean and firm texture we achieve is best in class. Judge for yourself from our pictures.

The US needs both sustainably caught wild seafood and quality farmed seafood.
